7 GNLU ANNUAL LEGAL SERVICES FORUM 2026

About GALSF 7.0

The GNLU Annual Legal Services Forum (GALSF) is the flagship initiative of the GNLU Legal Services Committee that brings together legal aid cells, universities, NGOs, Legal Services Authorities, and experts from across India to collaborate on socio-legal challenges and strengthen the legal aid ecosystem. Over six editions, it has evolved into a leading national platform for dialogue on accessible and affordable legal services for underserved communities.

Theme

“Artificial Intelligence for Access to Justice”

This reflects the rapidly evolving intersection of law, technology, and public welfare. As digital systems reshape governance and service delivery, artificial intelligence has emerged as a powerful tool capable of transforming how individuals interact with the justice system.

From predictive legal analytics and multilingual chat-based guidance to AI assisted dispute resolution and automated document drafting, technology today holds the potential to reduce barriers that disproportionately burden vulnerable communities.

The GNLU Legal Services Committee has been set up in the year 2007 by way of Section 4(k) of the Legal Service Authorities Act, 1987 which reads as "Develop, in consultation with the Bar Council of India, programs for clinical legal education and promote guidance and supervise the establishment and working of legal services clinics in universities, law colleges and other institutions". The Legal Aid Cell (or committee, as is the practice now), established under statutory law provides assistance through a variety of methods, including traditional casework, summary advice, self-help, community legal education, community development and policy reform initiatives.
