Adult Literacy Drive

Overview

The Adult Literacy Drive at Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) was initiated by the Legal Services Committee (LSC) to address the literacy gap among the university’s housekeeping staff. Recognizing the essential role these staff members play in the daily functioning of the university; the drive aims to empower them with functional literacy and enhance their ability to navigate the increasingly complex demands of modern life. The drive is designed to promote inclusivity, solidarity, and a stronger sense of community within GNLU.

Objective

The primary objective of the Adult Literacy Drive is to provide the housekeeping staff with essential skills critical to their personal and professional development. The program covers a range of topics, including:
• Enabling participants to read and write basic texts in Gujarati and English.
• Improving their ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Introducing participants to basic technological tools and digital platforms that are increasingly relevant in today’s world.
• Providing knowledge of basic legal rights and procedures, empowering them to protect their interests in various aspects of life.
