Menstrual Hygiene Drive

Overview

GNLU LSC in collaboration with various NGS’s focused on raising awareness about menstrual hygiene products and practices in villages in the vicinity of the university. The campaign aimed to empower women and girl in these communities by providing them with essential knowledge about menstrual hygiene and access to affordable hygiene products.

Objective

The primary objective of this initiative was to address the pressing issue of menstrual health, which is shrouded with stigma and misinformation, bias and often oppressed in rural areas. The drive which was conducted in collaboration with medical colleges and NGO’s aims to educate women and girls on safe menstrual hygiene practices and to promote subsidized hygiene products sourced from nearby government enabled health centers.

The GNLU Legal Services Committee has been set up in the year 2007 by way of Section 4(k) of the Legal Service Authorities Act, 1987 which reads as "Develop, in consultation with the Bar Council of India, programs for clinical legal education and promote guidance and supervise the establishment and working of legal services clinics in universities, law colleges and other institutions". The Legal Aid Cell (or committee, as is the practice now), established under statutory law provides assistance through a variety of methods, including traditional casework, summary advice, self-help, community legal education, community development and policy reform initiatives.
